I really like using the tonal energy app. It provides a great visual component for students with a hearing disability. When a student is working on playing in tune, there is a smiley face that appears when the instrument is in tune. The younger students really like the gratification from the smiley face. There are also other visual features involved like a tone analysis graph that gives the students a visual component to see what their sound looks like. |

Computer Assissted Technology: I like software product smart music. It allows students to get an immediate calculated response on the computer after they perform their instrument.
Peer Partners: I also enjoy having a mentoring system. Students are paired up with another student at a higher level than they are. This mentor guides them until they are prepared to take on their own mentee. |

Adapted Assessment of Learning: I adapted my scale tests allowing to the student to perform their scale at a comfortable speed, while reading the notes of the scale.
I also had a student with a sight disability, so we enlarged all of the music for the student to see more clearly. |

A few years ago I had a student with a viisual impairment. He could read music but it was too small for him to see. We enlarged all of his music on the copier, and used a glue stick to put it on cardboard. Sometimes he needed another music stand, but he was able to perform with the band just fine after the music was twice the size. |
