I currently have a student with cerebral palsy who has limited movement when it comes to playing instruments or engaging in movement activities. We have made adjustments when doing movement activities with manipulatives such as scarves. We have provided her with a scarf attached to scrunchie band that can be placed around her wrist since she struggles with maintaining a grip on the scarf in her hand. This allows her to participate the movement activity based on her range of motion. Additionally, I make sure to allow this student to have choice in a differentiated manner. When the students are allowed to pick a stuffed animal out of a basket during a composition song, I select two stuffed animals and allow the student to choose by touching the animal they want to use. |

For some of my students who struggle with vocalizing answers or using their singing voice, I have provided that student with a choice board that allows them to select an answer from the tablet or have provided them with color coordinated buttons that correspond to the solfege scale which allows the student to "sing" along with their classmate using the buttons as their voice. They are still required to participate by activating the buttons to "sing" with the class. |

In my classroom I often use manipulatives to have students do their own music compositions. Some students who are unable to physically move the manipulatives are either paired with a student partner or I work with the student to verbalize their composition so I can recreate the composition for them using the manipulative. Then the student and myself play the composition to ensure that what I dictated for them is the one they chose to articulate. |
