I have often taught autistic children who have a hard time with the volume of the activities in music class. If the sound is too stimulating for them I allow them to wear noise blocking headphones so that they can participate without being uncomfortable. |

I use Recorder Karate with my 4th grade students. Some students can successfully play a song alone while other students in the classroom are involved in a different activity. However, with some of my students who are easily distracted find this difficult. I allow them to come to my classroom before/after school so that they can play without other classmates causing them to get off task. |

I sometimes have students with a degree of hearing loss. I sit them in the front of the room and when needed provide them with a partner who can track where we are in the music using a smart board. |

I have had a student with vision impairment in my music classes. When we do written work (question/answer) that is projected on the screen he sits at a desktop to allow him to see and use the material at his own pace. He can also choose to have the directions read and music played through the computer if he needs to go back and review the activity. |
