I had a student wheelchair bound with a bone and neuro-muscular disorder. He could not stand or have weight put on his arms and legs. So we attached clamp and bars on his wheelchair to give him access to percussion auxiliary music. He could then play various percussion instruments that would require light implements to strike or play. He participated in the concert and marching bands for the 4 years he was in my program. Today, he teaches other students at a camp for disabled kids with the same issues. |

In my classroom I have used the ELMO reader for a student that was visual impaired. It helped in seeing the music that was discussed as well as fingers for the chords in my guitar. He was able to stay on task. |

I have a current student that was involved in a car accident and his left arm is fractured. He cannot perform anything on his guitar. Instead, I have used a blank sheet of fingerboard charts and chord diagrams. I will have him write in the fingering and chords for our unit on Barre Chords. I understand that he would have known how to play it, this lets me know his level of knowledge. IT WORKS!! |
