- I had a student last year diagnosis was ASD. I would show an artistic process and then he would adapt to his own abilities. It was not quite what I was teaching, but he made it happen. He is an amazing artist who has an infatuation with a cartoon character and I adapted my lessons towards his interests. So he had personal barriers that if the style was detailed he would do what he could.

- I have an ipad pro in my classroom for student use. We use scribbly and Crayola draw in class. My student has low mobility of her hands so her markings she creates with her whole hand creates lines when she touches the screen.

Think of a fine arts student with a disability you have now or in the past. Review the Assessment Accommodations Checklist and select two options that could potentially benefit this student in assessing his or her fine arts learning. Discuss how they would benefit the student.
I have used picture cards when learning about a certain culture. We were learning about Egypt. Students were telling me which continent Egypt was in on a quiz. I used cards in front of the student with the country highlighted and he told me the continent that Egypt was in.
Another example is when students are leaving. I asked students what country are we exploring and general ed students responded on a sticky note and my students who could not write were given two cards that had pictures and they chose the correct picture/answer. |
