I had a student with EBD. The most challenging thing for me was that I never knew what would set her off. Some of her unpredictable and violent behaviors included knocking her desk over, throwing her chair, and one time threw others' backpacks, almost hitting students. My students were afraid of her, and I had no aide in the classroom. She was removed from the classroom when these violent behaviors occurred, as she was unsafe to others. She liked to draw, so I tried to incorporate artistic components to her assignments as a motivator for her to complete her assignments, but this was not always effective. This was my most difficult year of teaching. |

I have used adaptive technology programs such as I-Ready which provides personalized learning instruction based on students' individual learning needs. This program is beneficial for all students as instruction is differentiated based on ability. My instruction also includes video lessons to enable students to go back and review at their own pace as needed. |

I have a student with ADHD. He is given lots of verbal encouragement, including encouragement to move and take breaks as needed. He is also given extended time during assessments. This student is encouraged to move to an area in the room where he can sit by himself where he is better able to focus and concentrate. |
