I had a student with Autism last year. He would often yell out of frustration while working on projects. After discussing this with his Mom and counselor we determined that when he felt too frustrated he would take a walk down the hall and calm down. Then upon returning he would ask a buddy student for help. He would take many walks in the beginning of this intervention being implemented, but as the year continued he left the classroom less times and did not shout out his frustrations. His behavior manager helped him find ways to dealing with frustration.

My student with ASD is a junior in a painting 2 class. I have a highly motivated student that sits next to him to calm him down when he gets anxious about assignments. She explains expectations and directions over and over again. In exchange for her kindness and caring attitude I allow her to come here during her study hall. My ASD student is thrilled to have a caring peer helping him out.

I use google slides every week on my smartboard to create an agenda with various links to instructional videos. That way if a student with a disability is out of my class for therapy I can refer them to the google slides and they can view the demonstration at their own time to get caught up. I use Screencastify to create videos or add verbal instruction to lessons which helps my struggling readers in the classroom.
