I have a student with cerebral palsy and is wheel chair bound. He struggles with taking notes with art history and needs to save his strength for when he is creating art. So, I have modify his note-taking on a google document and he answers the first question or two. He then uploads his assignment and hits submits, then he sits and listens to the rest of the discussion without repercussion. While circulating around later, I can ask for feedback and help with any clarification.
Also, his rubric for completing assessments are modified. He types note from vs. complete sentences. |

I had a visually impaired student and struggled with all assignments. I saw our visual specialist in the district and ended up getting a large monitor that hooked up to my smartboard. All the student had to do was turn it on and place it on his table. He was able to see (better) what I was demonstrating on the document camera when I was teaching technique and then when I switched the screen to the internet or a site, it was done effortlessly and he had a better experience!
I was so pleased!!!! |

I have had to write a checklist with the student. He had to complete a step than show me before starting the next task. He often would like to skip all steps and just do what he wanted. This the standards/expectations better and the end result. |

I am going to be more explicit and use the chaining and write the tasks out in order and also the graphic organizer for supplies. |

I would love to try the I-Pad with some of my life skills kids who do not like to get messy and have sensory issues. I would look into this as an option. |

I decided that painting was difficult, so we did printmaking instead and did it more exploratory making a variety of marks with different tools, changing colors and using brayers. They worked with positive and negative space in addition to exploring and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. After 2 class sessions, students then were given the option to use the prints, speciality papers, newspapers, magazines, and sheet music to cut from and create a new scene using only their scissors and glue to create a collage. I had an example already made.
Also, they glued their birds on the watercolor paper they painted on using the bleeding technique with a limited color palate.
It turned out awesome!!!!!!! |
