I teach a theatre student with processing and intellectual disabilities. She takes much longer than other students to complete written work, so I have shortened written assignments and offered alternative assignments that demonstrate the skills in other ways besides written work and tests. I have had success with using improvisation activities and shortened assignments and assessments, including fewer lines to memorize. I also have used alternative assignments based on her interests that have ver very successful. I pair her with other students who are great supports and encouragement. She is blossoming and becoming more social and confident! |

I have used transcription software and guided reading applications to help students in my class. I have also use flipgrid, video support, and interactive computer games to assist students with learning disabilities. These tools have helped students communicate with me as well as for me to better explain and offer tiered supports. |

- Describe an example of adapted assessment you have successfully used in the fine arts classroom for students with disabilities.
- I have adapted assessment successfully through grouping students with disabilities with other students to do scene work and have used pantomime and open scenes to allow students who have difficulty memorizing lines to demonstrate their understanding of the skills learned about blocking, characterization, movement, etc. Fewer lines to memorize and the use of their movement allow me to assess their mastery of the skills we are learning in smaller, more manageable parts for them. I still see the results I'm looking for, and they are able to demonstrate their mastery.
