I have a student who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing. For a long time he would always say he couldn't hear what I was saying. In order to help him be successful in music I would make sure I stand in close proximity to him and mouth the words so he can hear me. Also, I found that pairing him with a buddy also helped him. When there are listening activities, I make sure the music is as loud as possible. If we are singing, I repeat the words until he gets it. Eventually he was able to get a hearing aid. |

One strategy I could potentially implement in my classroom would be story maps. Most of the time I'm asking basic questions about the story but to actually use a story map and have them explain/write what's happening at the beginning, middle, and end will help them comprehend the story and also reassure me they are paying attention and not just listening to me read.
Another strategy I see myself implementing in my classroom is peer partners. I have a cluster of ELL students so I find that pairing them with another student helps them stay focused/motivated to attempt the activity. |

I have a student that has a physical disability. Most of the time students move to the carpet to play instruments. This particular student has a unique chair that is supposed to follow her to all classes. In music she sits in her chair and I bring her the instruments to play. |
