Students With Disabilities

I have a student with a hearing disability. She comes to class with an interpreter. She does wear a hearing aid, and she can also speak quite well for someone with hearing loss. I have played videos using closed captioning for her so she can follow along with the lesson being presented. I have also learned a few signs to be able to better communicate with her. |

One way I have been able to use technology to assist some students with disabilities is with the SmartBoard. It allows my students that suffer from language the ability to use spell check to help them with their artist statements. It can also help my students who have disabilities by using their fingers to draw on the board instead of having to grasp a pencil/crayon, etc. |

Sometimes I read test questions to my students who have language disabilities and allow them to answer orally or visually by drawing an image to answer the question instead of writing the answer. |
