I use Chaining almost daily to show students step by step the process in the artwork. For my students with disabilities I will repeat the process or work one on one with them at their table showing them the process using chaining. I also use diagrams for brainstorming or further engagement in information. Students draw out a diagram example and use it to organize thought, information in their sketchbooks. |

I find my class ipads to work really well with some students with disabilities. If they have trouble drawing or holding a pencil their skills are better on the ipad because of the ease of the medium. I use a lot of ArtRage and Animantic which they love because they can create a short animation that really allows them to explore ideas. They end up really impressed with what they can do on the ipads. |

I have a student with a hearing impairment. I use a microphone when she is in the room. I also have her sit near the front of the room near the smartboard to keep her engaged. Her impairment has caused her to not believe in herself so i will give her praise frequently and share her work with the class on the smart board to show how good she is doing. She has been getting- in the past year- more confident. |

I use a lot of visuals for my ELL students. I have a word wall where we discuss a work of art by pulling words from the word wall and placing the word by the artwork. The student then explains why he/she has picked the word by defining the word and showing where it is rendered in the artwork. This process seems to work very well for all levels since their is a visual. If their are students that are still confused I will site more examples visually. |

I have all my students use their sketchbooks throughout the year. Students will pick a Principle and an Element to create a drawing in their sketchbook. students will also label their work with the principles or elements that they used for the work. With my ELL, ESOL, ASD, ADHD etc students I discuss their work with them one on one so that they also have to verbally explain to me the concepts. |
