I have a student in my AP Music Theory class that is hearing impaired. He can only hear certain frequencies in the sound spectrum. He was having difficulties with harmonic and melodic dictation so I met with his hearing specialist and parents to provide accommodations. I gave him extended time and repetitions to do the dictations. Plus, he uses special ear pieces that enhances the sound for him. Also, he does these dictations by himself so he can not feel pressured by the time limitations. Al of these accommodations have made a great difference in his performance. |

Option 2: I have used computers to assist in helping a student with melodic and harmonic dictation in my AP Music Theory Class. The computer was a tool that was used to allow the student more time and increase his hearing spectrum for these tasks. The student is hearing impaired. |

I currently have a student who is visually impaired. She is in my digital music class and the accommodation I use for her is to increase the size of all of her assignments, whether they are on handouts or on her computer. I will also enlarge assignments on my SmartBoard for her as well. She is also placed in the front of the room so she can have better viewing of the dry-erase board and other visual aids. |
