I had a student that was visually impaired. He had a great memory and a retention for music. I had to have his music transcribed to braille so that he could read the music and then he would memorize it and play. He was able to perform at a higher level than most of the other students. He is currently now a professional musician and teaches other students. He made all county groups. He was very successful in my class. |

I have used a Venn Diagram in the Band Room. I have played a professional performance and a recent performance by the students. I had them list 3 differences and 3 similarities between the 2 recordings. We shared out in class to try and raise our awareness of items to make the ensemble better.
I have also used Cornell Note in a music theory class. Students take notes, write a short summary of what they learned, and then 2 questions they had about the material at the end of class. |

I have a student who was visually impaired. This student needed tests written in braille or read aloud. I had to make sure district wide testing was available to him in braille and assisted him in taking tests. Tests that involved writing music notes on a staff had to be taken verbally to see if the student comprehended the material. |
