2. Describe at least one way you have used technology to meet the needs of a student with a disability in your art classroom. Be sure to identify or describe the specific technology and the student's disability. Share your response in the threaded discussion.
I often have students that are ELL (level 1/2) where speaking english is little to none. I use google translate often in the classroom. I use it to translate various documents and assignments or speak with the students one on one. I have a student who uses the google translate app on her cell phone. She can take an image of a written assignment in English, then the image is translated by the application into her language immediately so she can keep pace with the class. |

I had a student with a Visual Impairment and her eye sight was degenerative. She had issues reading items in fonts as large as size 18. What I would do for her was paired her up and the partner would read items aloud and she would give an oral summary of information instead of written. Either that or I would let her use a student laptop/computer and enlarge the font to make the assignment more readable. |

I have multiple students with ADD/ADHD. These students have trouble just sitting for 5 minutes. What I allow them to do is be the table manager. They are in charge of getting materials, putting away materials, handing out papers, getting my attention for questions...etc. It allowed them to walk more and burn that extra energy. Giving them more meaningful responsibilities in the classroom helped them focus and understand. |
