I had a student a few years ago who was blind. During an assessment where the other students were writing their answers, I had worked out a series of signals with her where she would sit in the back (out of view from the other students) and would signal using her fingers. She loved music and had the best attitude despite her disability! |

I have used peer partners several times in years past with students. I partnered one of my students who had ADHD with one of my best behaved students and they really hit it off. The student with ADHD who had been having some issues with staying on task was suddenly very interested because the other student held him accountable and they helped each other through the year.
I have also used graphic organizers with my classes. I have found that it definitely helps with organizing their thoughts and gives them a visual to their learning. I have used them in groups and individually. |

I taught a student who was visually impaired. She loved music and loved to sing. I had to accommodate for her when we would play instruments or would partner her with someone to make it easier for her to participate. She had the best attitude and was eager to learn despite her impairment. |

I have allowed students with disabilities to draw the answer instead of writing a sentence. I have also given them a set of cards with pictures and they will choose the correct answer from the pictures. |

I use cue cards in my classroom and have students work in groups. They have to use background knowledge to complete the task. I use it with rhythm patterns and also instrument identification. I use mneumonic devices when we learn the names of notes in the treble clef. |
